American Honda Motor Recalls Off-Road Motorcycles Due To Crash And Injury Hazards

MotorcycleOffRoad2

American Honda Motor recently initiated the recall of its 2023-2024 Honda off-road motorcycles with model numbers CRF50F, CRF110F, and CRF125F. According to the recall, the grip can detach from the handlebar posing crash and injury dangers. Consumers are directed to immediately stop using the off-road motorcycles and contact American Honda Motor to schedule an appointment for a free inspection and repair. Honda is also contacting every known purchaser directly.

Honda has received a report of one crash thus far. The crash resulted in a knee injury to the rider. The off-road motorcycles were sold nationwide through Honda dealers from September 2022 through May 2024 for between $1,700 and $3,900.

Off-road vehicles and product liability lawsuits

If you are injured by an off-road vehicle, you can file a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturer. Manufacturers of off-road vehicles are liable when there is a known defect that could lead to crashes and injuries.

Product liability lawsuits are filed under one of three theories of liability. A product can be intrinsically defective meaning that it has a design defect that causes it to become unnaturally dangerous to its user. Further, products can have defects that occur during manufacturing. If a manufacturing defect causes an injury, you can file a product liability lawsuit. In other cases, you can file a product liability lawsuit when a product is intrinsically dangerous but the manufacturer failed to warn you about a known danger. Failure to warn lawsuits allege that a manufacturer knew about a danger, but failed to warn the public about it.

In the case mentioned above, you have a product with an intrinsic design defect that increases the risk of a crash. Right now, there is one reported injury related to the defect. That individual would be able to file a personal injury lawsuit against Honda to recover damages related to their medical expenses, lost wages, and reduced quality of life. Often, crashes involving off-road vehicles cause extremely serious, permanent, injuries. One individual suffered a knee injury as a result of a crash with the Honda motorbike. That individual would be entitled to sue Honda to recover damages related to their injuries.

Damages in a personal injury product liability claim

If you’ve been injured by a dangerous or defective product, you should contact a qualified personal injury lawyer immediately. You are entitled to recover damages related to your medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Pain and suffering damages often include elements such as reduced quality of life for permanent injuries. For example, for the injured party mentioned above, their knee may never completely heal properly preventing them from engaging in sports or recreational activities. This would reduce their quality of life considerably. That is a compensable form of damages.
