Electric Smokers Recalled Due To Electrical Shock Risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for over 200,000 electric smokers manufactured by the Char-Broil Brand. These smokers were actively sold in the U.S. and Canada. The Char-Broil brand digital electric smokers were designed for outdoor use to cook without charcoal. The smokers were sold at Lowe’s, Ollie’s, Bargain Outlet, Target, and other major retailers across the country. They were also sold online at Amazon, HSN, and through the brand’s website from April 2015 through January of 2024 costing between $300 and $600.

The company announced the recall after receiving 79 complaints from customers who reported “minor electric shocks” when touching the smoker while in use. There was one report of a burn injury caused by an electrical shock that resulted in blistering of the skin.

Char-Broil is recommending that customers contact them to schedule a free repair for the faulty smokers.

Electrical shock injuries and product liability

The company received one report of a customer suffering an electrical shock due to the product.
